Aldous Huxley
Brave New World, The Doors of Perception, Author-Prophet
The Prophetic Leo
Aldous Huxley published Brave New World in 1932, predicting a future of genetic engineering, psychological conditioning, consumer hedonism, and the elimination of meaningful individual life. That future has arrived. His The Doors of Perception, about his experience with mescaline, inspired Jim Morrison to name his band The Doors, and made Huxley the accidental grandfather of the psychedelic era.
Leo Legacy
- Brave New World: 1932 — predicted genetic engineering, mass media, and consumer society
- The Doors of Perception: 1954 — mescaline experience essay that influenced the counterculture
- Inspired The Doors: Jim Morrison took the band name directly from Huxley’s title
- Died on JFK day: Died November 22, 1963 — same day as JFK, overshadowed in history
Huxley’s Leo prophesy was so accurate that his dystopia became a documentary.
“The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age.”
